PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
The Karl Aghassi, Jr. Legacy
Over four decades of hands-on experience in project management and historic preservation

Foundation Built on Family Legacy
My father was an architect, and beginning in high school I worked closely with him and various trades. If I didn't have sports after school, I was expected to be on job sites. When subcontractors left for the day, they often assigned me tasks for the evening — mounting electrical boxes so wiring could begin in the morning, or installing baseboard units so piping could be run the next day.
Early Experience
I worked extensively on my father's large Victorian home in Brookline. In my freshman year of high school, the house suffered a fire and had to be rebuilt, which became an invaluable learning experience. I also learned from a very young age — starting around six years old — assisting my father in the basement shop, holding lumber while he cut, and observing how he interacted with building inspectors and trades.
Current Focus
Currently working as a project manager for a company specializing in historic preservation. Actively pursuing a strong full-time position with a reputable organization in project management and real estate sales. Over four decades of experience in bringing projects to fruition and completion.

Brookline Preservation Commission
1994 Award-Winning Project
165 Winthrop Road
In 1988, removed all aluminum siding from 165 Winthrop Road, revealing original woodwork and stucco that had been hidden. After removing the siding, insulation was installed, and the architect specified five historic HC colors for the exterior. The home was fully restored to its original appearance.

Concord Preservation Planning Commission
2023 Award-Winning Project
19 Thoreau Court
The owner followed my recommendation to remove all exterior woodwork, install new woodwork on three sides of the house, reclaim and reuse the best original clapboards on the front façade, remove, restore, and reinstall the original windows, and use interior storm glass panels instead of exterior storm windows, preserving the original appearance from both inside and outside. Additionally, I recommended purchasing a power planer to re-mill wide historic boards salvaged from the attic and reuse them on the first floor. The result is a home that looks authentically 1745 from the front and brand new on the other three sides.
